Flower Themed Cakes Come in All Shapes and Sizes

Your imagination's your only limitation. We've seen flower birthday cakes in the shape of a flower (made using a special pan or by cutting the shape from a large sheet cake), cakes with two or more tiers and rectangular sheet cakes decorated in all sorts of floral motifs. Some are frosted with buttercream and others are draped in rolled fondant.

Don't Forget to Take Inspiration From Your Guest of Honor

If she (or he —hey, don't call us sexist) loves a particular kind of flower, think about designing a cake based on that. You don't have to be an artistic wiz to make this work, either. If you're not comfortable making designs out of icing or fondant, simply use the real thing! Pick flowers from your garden or go to a florist and decorate the cake with them. Fresh flowers are not only a beautiful adornment, they can cover up any decorating mishaps too.
